Hi, my name is Daniel Rasmussen and I am a freshman journalism major at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Ever since I picked up my first CD from the local Virgin at age 10 I have been addicted to music. I just can’t get enough of the stuff. The prospect of discovering new music every day is what keeps me going.

So, SLO Jams is my way of sharing my passion with you. Many people I know just turn to the radio or YouTube’s Most Viewed to find new music, but the truth is that there is so much great music out there going unheard. The purpose of this blog is to introduce you to something new, give you an alternative look at music you might already love, and to give commentary on the world of music today from the eyes of a college student.

Nothing thrills me more than finding my new favorite track, so if there’s something you think I should hear, let me know! I am open to everything; from the indiest of indie to the most obscure acid jazz you can get your hands on, I’ll definitely give it a listen.
